My weekend was GOOD! :-)
(Yes, I am a little late with this post especially since the coming weekend is only 2 days away!)
I went home (Mysore) on Saturday, had dinner at my aunt's place and we rushed back on Sunday morning since we had the carpenters coming over and we needed to get the Apartment cleaned for them...
I really don't want to bore you guys with that, but something happened on our way to Mysore that I wanted to mention and need your opinion on it...
So, here goes:
We boarded the 6:45 AM bus (Volvo) as usual and the journey was actually nice, except when this guy with a small kid boarded the bus at the new bus stop in Bangalore...
The kid was pretty small and the dad had a cover filled with chips etc and another carry bag...
So, as we are travelling, the guy comes up with the small kid and tells the driver that the kid needs to puke and the driver hands him a plastic bag!
This guy proceeds to make the kid sit near our legs and asks him to puke away! I was disgusted!! I told the guy straight away to take his kid away from our legs and make sure he pukes properly away from the people around, because, well its an AC bus, puke stinks and I didn't want any on my legs!!!
The guy glared at me and told me that I was insensitive and I would know only when I have kids!!
I didn't retort back, but kept quiet (I keep thinking that I should have said something)
But, even when I have a kid, I am quite sure I won't make it puke on other people's legs!!
I know how much of an inconvenience travel sickness can be, I still suffer from it!!!
But, I remember that my mom was quite sensible about the whole thing and she always made sure I didn't eat stuff like chips, other oily snacks in the bus.. also she used to carry candy (you know, the sherbet lemon kind) in her purse and she used to make sure I was distracted enough so that I didn't think of Puke... also, when I was old enough I was always given the travel-sickness-preventing-tablets (I still take them when I'm travelling long distances)
And I still make sure I don't eat a heavy meal while travelling.
He called me insensitive, Did I really come across as that when I told him to make sure his kid doesn't puke on our legs and to either take him down or near the door, so the smell doesn't bother other people??
I was being sensible...
Also, I don't know why this is bothering me so much!!

Maybe you feel unsettled because you did not tell him these things, like carrying candy and taking care of food before the journey...
most people are totally cluless about fundamentals like that and they have kids!!!
Vicky: yea, you are right, but really you can't tell these people who take a stance saying that " unless we have kids of our own, we remain insenstive gits!!"
I guess I was being senstive of everyone around me, because Puke stinks in an AC bus... and that's very uncomfortable...
haha sorry but I just have to laugh. 'I won't make "IT" puke..' So familiar with that pronoun. Some of my friends with kids hate it when I use an "it" to describe kids, babies, children in general. They think it's insensitive (not to rub it in :)), it seems 'sensitive people' with feelings use only gender-specific pronouns, only cruel females like us use 'it' - what you did sounds perfectly right to me, maybe it's because I'm another 'it'-using insensitive woman..:P
a. having kids and being sensitive are two completely diff issues.
b. lashing out at ppl is d most common way that a person reacts when he's being defensive.
wot u did was absolutely right! just don't fret abt it! :)
Sundancer: LOL!!
Rayshma: Thanks for the support...
Stopped fretting about it :)
Thanks guys for telling me that what I did wasn't insensitive or off the mark...
