Every time, we try to tell some one - we have some "good news", they assume that we are having a baby...
Each time I try to tell an acquaintance we have "good news" to share, their eyes widen, mouths open in anticipation and ask me - "So, finally you are pregnant?"
Ummm.... what's with the word "Finally" here???
Also, is that the only "good news" a young, just married couple(OK, its been a year, but its still new for us!!!) can share with this world??
I don't want the moms to start blasting me off the face of this planet, but we are not yet in the process of thinking that we can have a baby, I mean, there's plenty of time and unlike a few who have predicted doom to me and my unborn, un-conceived child, I am quite sure all 3 of us (including the hubby here) will be healthy and happy...
We would love to have kids, but not because someone else says - "Get pregnant, you are already getting old" WTF?????
Seriously, why should I be pregnant now, at the drop of someone else's hat?? Isn't that OUR decision to make??
Some said, that I would put on oodles of weight - I would become so dark and ugly that our child will be so dark and ugly, if I don't get pregnant soon!!! (Is this some new fangled blessings people give???)
Sheeeesh!!! Sometimes, its fun to give it right back, but it gets very irritating after a while...
Usually, I just laugh it off saying we are not yet ready, then we get this - "what do you mean by not ready?? These things happen, besides you have known each other for so.. long..." here again, eyes will be wide open, mouth slighly open....
Ummm... yes, we have... but, back in college, we were friends and we actually and seriously didn't discuss making babies back then!!! We were too busy having a great time hanging out together, studying, fighting... all normal "friends" stuff and I really don't think 2 friends discuss about making babies in their free time!
Or has this changed?? *gasp*
Do friends discuss making babies now??? *gasp* *gasp*
Well, what our "good news"? - We bought an Apartment in Real Estate crazy Bangalore!
I think that's an achievement by itself!!!
We will get used to this luxury first and then think of the next one...
So, next time I say "good news" - please don't ask me if I'm pregnant... I could just throw my keyboard/monitor/CPU (anything heavy) at you!
Since we have been patient about bringing OUR baby into this world, you too be patient please...
(My grammar sucks sometimes, especially when I'm this pissed off)

Wooo Hooo a new apartment! That is better than "good" news that is "super great" news! Congratulations!
As far as people being all in charge of when you have a baby, you can always just tell them Wow, we have sex practically non stop, in fact just the other night......
That should work! LOL
Seriously, I hate when people tell other people when they should procreate. That is a very big decision, one between you and your husband only!
heyy! congrats!!! do up the apt well! :))
i am SO with u on the "i-don't-want-babies-yet" argument. i think it shud be between the couple to decide IF, WHEN and WHY they want babies. leave alone, the how many!
it's almost a year we've been married... and yeah, i'm bgng to hear it too. like unemployment is the only cue to have a baby! :D anywez... don't let it get to u! :)
Hey Pixie!
I could identify so well with everything u've written here!
Its been like a year now since random and not-so-random aunties have been taunting me with the whenz-the-baby-coming question!
I so wanna say !##$%^&*( off to each one of them!
And hey, congratz on the (un)real estate achievement!:)
lolz... the age old remark on "biological clock ticking away". hahaha. Great post. Made me miss Bangalore even more. Sometimes it feels like people want us to perform like lab rats.. "ok now, make a baby.. oops experimantal error" lolz.
Grail: LOL!!! I almost fell off my chair laughing!! Thank you for the wishes :)
Rayshma, Smi: I totally understand what you are talking about! ;-)
Thank you for the wishes :)
illusionaire: Welcome back and yes, lab rats is a good example!! :)
Ya, I see your point...
I am at a stage in life where everyone asks me about some 'good news' whenever i come back from vacation... expecting me to come back with a ring or something...
Vicky: LOL! I totally understand...
It's really stupid and it gets irritating after a while
Hey there, first of all, thanks for your good wishes re our new house. I wish you and your hubby the same as well for yours.
As for the "baby" thing, my wife S and me have been hearing these things for more than a year now seeing we are 2 and a half years into married life now. Some of those comments or pieces of advice have come from people who we know to be really well meaning who probably do not realize what havoc their comments wreak.
Another take on it is when we're actually try to conceive and well, we're not getting lucky and then to top it all, you have these "Aunties" ask you, "So, when are you both going to give us the good news? You've waited long enough now!" Hello, people, we're trying and we don't think its necessary for you to know that!!
Anyway, great blog here...keep visiting though I have to get down to some serious writing myself..Have been pretty lax what with a busy schedule at work! Cheers!
I should be the one you come to with the good news then, I promise you babies will be the farthest thing from my mind!
And congrats on the new apartment! When's the housewarming party? :P
Sachin: All the best! :) and you have a post pending!!! Take a break and write a post! :)
Sundancer: LOL!! Will let you know! :P
